District Court still recording Alam’s statement

Rautahat District Court has yet again sent suspended lawmaker Mohammad Aftab Alam to police custody on Tuesday as it is yet to finish recording his statement. The court says it will continue to record Alam’s statement on Wednesday. District Attorney Office, Rautahat has filed a case demanding life imprisonment against Alam. The District Attorney Office had filed the case against Alam for the production of explosives and offenses related to the murder. The office had filed the case against 11 persons including Alam.

Sajha Party seeks support from NC for Kaski-2 by-election, NC says no

Sajha Party, which had requested Nepali Congress to support its candidate in the Kaski-2 by-election, has received its answer on Tuesday. NC has said that it will not be supporting Sajha Party’s candidate Rajani KC in the Kaski-2 by-election. NC leaders felt that Sajha Party, which was able to muster only 843 votes in the last election, did not stand a chance in the election. Nepal Congress is planning to select central member Dhanraj Gurung to contest the election, however, sources say Dev Raj Chalise and Khemraj Paudel are also in the run-in.

NC says sacking of governors wrong

The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has condemned the sacking of the governors. A meeting of the office-bearers of the party held at the party headquarters on Tuesday accused the government of foiling the politics of agreement by sacking the governors appointed during the party at the helm. The main opposition maintained that the sacking was wrong as works for implementing federalism are yet to be executed.

Tiger kills mahout in Bardiya National Park

A mahout has been killed by a tiger attack inside Bardiya National Park on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Mangaru Tharu of Mohanpur, Thakurbaba Municipality. According to park officials, the tiger attacked Tharu near the ‘Rhino Watch Tower’ inside the Park when he had gone to collect grass. Tharu had been working at the park’s elephant shelter for 22 years.

PSC submits annual report to president

The Public Service Commission (PSC), on Tuesday, submitted its 60th annual report to President Bidya Devi Bhandari. Chairman of the PSC, Umesh Prasad Mainali, presented the report to the President at a programme at the Rastrapati Bhawan, Shital Niwas. The report presented to the President, features the PSC’s administrative and fiscal status, academic competence, audit technology, and other works carried out in regard to its curriculum, exams, inclusive appointments, and interviews and recommendations.

Foul smell in Kathmandu due to burning of buffalo bones and skin, claims police

Nepal Police says that the burning smell which had spread in areas like Ekantakuna, Satdobato, Tinkune, and Baneshwor was due to the burning buffalo bones and skin. Police on Tuesday arrested Faisal Muslim, Sajit Muslim, and Rajesh Sherpa, accusing them of causing environmental pollution. Police caught the three with a nearly a full tractor of buffalo skin and bones, said DSP Gautam Mishra. Police, however, do not know which law to use to press charges against them.
