Kathmandu, June 20

The Meteorological Forecasting Division under the government of Nepal has officially announced that the monsoon season has entered Nepal on Thursday.

Meteorologist Manju Basi says the monsoon entered the country from the eastern side and it will gradually move towards west.

It will bring average precipitation to Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces whereas four other provinces–1, 2, 3 and 5–will have below average rainfall, forecasts the Division.

This year, the monsoon entered around 10 days later than the normal time. Last year, the season of heavy rainfall had begun in Nepal on June 8.

The season will have its effect for around three to four months.

Between June and September, the country receives 80 per cent of the yearly rainfall.
