Kathmandu, January 11

CPN-Mashal General Secretary Mohan Bikram Singh, one of the oldest communist leaders of the country, says the left alliance currently consisting CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre should be expanded.

During a meeting with the Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Kathmandu this morning, Singh also told the former prime minister and one of his most successful ‘disciples’ that communist parties should have an unequivocal opinion about national and economic issues.

Dahal’s secretariat says the two leaders discussed contemporary political issues including the proposed unification between the UML and the Maoist Centre.

Singh also told Dahal that unification among leftist forces was essential for political stability and development in the country. He said his party’s sister wing Rastriya Janamorcha would form an alliance with the UML and the Maoist Centre for National Assembly polls.
