Kathmandu, November 15
After stakeholders and media fraternity criticised the government decision against sharing decisions of Cabinet meetings immediately, members of the Council of Ministers have been seen divided over the issue.
Whereas some ministers view that the decision was right because Cabinet decisions take time to get mature, some ministers want to share them to media immediately because it is more democratic.
The division was clearly reflected when official spokesperson of the government and Communications Minister Gokul Banskota did not tell anything about the Cabinet decisions after a meeting this Sunday whereas other Cabinet colleagues including Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Tham Maya Thapa divulged the details.
Therefore, the Cabinet meeting scheduled for Thursday will discuss how the criticisms can be addressed further and how the information can be shared systematically, according to sources.
“The discussion will finalise a concrete policy on how to make the decisions pubic,” a minister informs.
Meanwhile, Minister Banskota is hosting a press conference to brief journalists over the recent decisions at his Ministry today.
