The CPN-Maoist Centre has decided to leave the coalition government after Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba wished that the ministers representing the party would resign before relieving them of their portfolios.

Outgoing Home Minister and Maoist leader Janardan Sharma will announce the party decision amidst a press meet at 2 pm today.

Earlier, the PM had inducted eight leaders of Rastriya Prajatantra Party in the Cabinet, putting a pressure on the Maoist Centre to quit.

The PM had wanted the party to leave the coalition after the CPN-Maoist Centre decided to forge an electoral alliance with the main opposition CPN-UML.

The Maoist party, however, had said it would continue extending support to the government till the polls despite the formation of leftist alliance.
