Manoj Bhetwal, accused of embezzling Rs 130 million, released on Rs 190,000 bail

Kathmandu, March 16

The Special Court has released construction entrepreneur Manoj Bhetwal on Rs 190,000 bail.

A division of judges Prem Raj Karki, Balendra Rupakheti, and Chandra Bahadur Saru ordered the police to release him on Monday.

The notorious contractor, known for reported fraud in the proposed construction of Kathmandu View Tower in central Kathmandu, was accused of misappropriating Rs 132.6 million in connection with a banking offence case.

Five other people arrested on the same charge–Basanta Malla, Bikas Shrestha, Madhuwan Lal Shrestha, Bhairav Prasad Bhetwal, and Rabin Lama–were also released yesterday. Altogether, the six were accused of embezzling Rs 400 million.

Bhetwal is the owner of the Jaleshwor Swachchhanda Bkoi Builders Pvt Ltd, which won a contract to construct the Kathmandu View Tower, which is currently in limbo.
