Mandala Theatre stages The Age of Darkness (Photo Feature)

The staging of “The Age of Darkness” has begun at Mandala Theatre in Thapagaun. The production is based on Dharamvir Bharati’s celebrated play “Andha Yug.”

Translated into Nepali by Rajendra Salab, the play is directed by Sudip Khatiwada. Khatiwada had made his acting debut through this very play 11 years ago.

The play tells the story of how the violence, revenge and mental emptiness caused by the Mahabharat war engulf its characters. Through the mindset of characters living through the aftermath of war, it explores themes of violence, power struggles, revenge, moral conflict, and human responsibility.

The cast includes Jinlop Dong Waiba, Aabhushan Ghimire, Milan Panta, Indra Kumar Limbu, Joheb Shah, Sujit Malla Thakuri, Samata Rai, Bijay Dong, Saugat Shrestha, Raju Shrestha, Nitya Poudel, and Bishwajit Dhakal, among others.

Music for the play has been composed by Saurav Chalise, Salina BK, Jeevan Rai, and Kumar Lama.
