Make creation of a prosperous Nepal your common agenda: Vice-president Pun to parties

Vice-president Nanda Bahadur Pun ‘Pasang’ has appealed Nepal’s political parties to reach an understanding on a national agenda — creation of a properous Nepal — even if they fail to cobble together a national unity government.

He has expressed sadness over the parties’ failure to agree on the formation of a unity government.

Vice-president Pun, addressing a function organised to distribute awards to winners of an architect engineering design competition in Kathmandu on Tuesday, said: Parties failed to reach an understanding on the formation of a unity government within the President-given deadline. This has saddened me.

Pun further asked parties to reach national consensus even within the majority framework.

Political parties should realise that there’s a need to form a consensu government, he said, appealing parties to strive for understanding.

On the occasion, Vice-president Pun asked architects to design quake-resistant structures in ways that protect Nepal’s terrains and identifies of different communities.

Pun also gave away awards to winners of the competition that had Asian Paints as the organiser.
