A pickup truck has hit a cyclist in Sonama rural municipality-3 of the Mahottari district in Madhes on Thursday night. The injured man died after some time.
DSP Prakash Bista of the District Police Office says the vehicle (Ja 1 Cha 1164) had hit Birendra Raut (40), a resident of Gaidhabhetpur, Samsi rural municipality-4 of the district on the Postal Highway, in Sonama-3.
Raut was travelling on the road on his bicycle in the opposite direction.
He died while being taken to the hospital. Currently, his body has been kept at the Mahottari District Hospital, Jaleshwar, for postmortem.
Meanwhile, the truck driver is on the run and police have launched a manhunt.
