A ward secretary of Dharche rural municipality was killed in a jeep accident in the district on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Kiran Rimal, the secretary of Dharche rural municipality-6, informs Suk Bahadur BK, the in-charge of the District Traffic Police Office.
The jeep (Ba 1 Cha 5505) was carrying elected officials and employees of the rural municipality when it fell around 200 metres down the road. It was heading to Kashigaun from Arughat to participate in a disability ID distribution programme.
Six people along with vice-chairperson of the Dharche rural municipality, Phulmaya Gurung, got injured. Among them, four are seriously injured, informs BK.
For further treatment, the injured were sent to Kathmandu on a Nepal Army helicopter, says Santosh Gurung, chairman of the rural municipality.
Preliminary investigation suggested the brake failure resulted in the accident.
