Tarai-Madhesh Democratic Party has warned it will not support the government in the event of failure to amend the Constitution

Hridayesh Tripathi, vice-president of the party, warned implementing the Constitution without amending it will be impossible. He said this while talking to the media at a function organised to mark the ninth anniversary of the party. A conducive environment for elections should be created by amending the Constitution, he said, asking UML and other opposition parties not to block Parliament meetings.

“There’s a need to pass the Constitution amendment proposal with necessary changes, that’s our view,” Tripathi pointed, adding: Let’s pass the amendment proposal by making certain changes and let’s push the country towards elections. Let’s be clear on this: Constitution implementation will be on hold if Constitution amendment proposal is on hold.
