Nepali Congress lawmaker Gagan Thapa on Thursday registered a proposal of public importance demanding discussions on deteriorating health of Dr Govinda KC and on allegations that the latter has levelled against the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority. Lawmakers Dhana Raj Gurung and Shyam Shrestha have seconded the proposal.

The proposal has sought discussions on Dr KC’s demands on four grounds. It has pointed that Dr KC has been on a hunger strike for 11 days, so the House should take initiatives for the protection of his life. Dr KC’s demands are also related to the Parliament, it has said, pointing that the status of implementation of Kedar Bhakta Mathema Taskforce’s report on Nepal’s medical education is a matter of concern for the House as well.

The proposal points that the Parliament is the only body that can conduct an independent investigation into charges that Dr KC has levelled against the CIAA.
