Kathmandu, April 21

Over 50 children in the Lalitpur metropolitan city gathered on Thursday morning to express their concerns that they want political parties to address ahead of the local elections.

The Lalitpur city-level child club network organised an interaction with major political parties in the city to inform the leaders of their expectations from the leadership to be elected during the polls.

The children also submitted a memorandum to the leaders of CPN-UML, Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Janata Samajbadi Party who were present there.

Santosh Maharjan, the president of Yuwalaya, an organisation that supported the event, says representatives of other big parties such as the Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Centre and CPN-Unified Socialist could not be present as they scheduled their joint meeting at the scheduled time.

Yuwalaya and Loo Niva were co-organisers of the event whereas the Consortium of Organisations Working for Child Participation and Education Watch Group had also expressed their solidarity with the event.
