Kathmandu, August 31
Chandeswori Dapha Khalah of Tokha has raised funds for flood victims by organising a traditional Lakhe dance performance.
The group collected donations while taking the Lakhe dance around Tokha Municipality on Monday as part of the traditional Ropain Jatra festival.
According to Chandeswori Dapha Khala, the collected funds were counted in the presence of Dharmendra Shrestha, ward chairperson of Tokha Municipality-2. The group plans to deposit the collected amount of Rs 43,587 into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund today.
The Dapha Khalah, which has been active for many years, has made significant contributions to the preservation and promotion of Tokha’s Licchhavi-era culture and traditions.
The group said Dapha Khalas were established to preserve religion and culture, with humanity at their core, and that it had taken this initiative to support people affected by the disaster.
