Kathmandu, January 19
A selection committee led by Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha has nominated Rama Kantha Makaju Shrestha, Bhola Thapa, and Bal Chandra Luitel for the appointment as next vice-chancellor of the Kathmandu University.
Now, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, also the chancellor of the university, will pick one from among them.
Makaju Shrestha is completing the second term as the VC in the university. Although professors and staff in the institution have been protesting his bid to become reappointed again, he had expedited lobbying of late. Likewise, Thapa is a former registrar of the university whereas Luitel at the department’s School of Education.
The second four-year term of Makaju Shrestha as the KU VC is ending soon.
