Kathmandu, August 16

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has urged citizens not to throw waste on the roads. The KMC, on Monday, released a statement mentioning that as roads to the landfills sites were blocked due to the monsoon rain, it has been impossible to manage waste at the moment.

The statement also said that KMC would only be coming to households to pick up waste once the roads to the landfill site were clear.

Different nooks and corners of the city are filling up with waste and according to KMC’s statement; things are expected to be the same for a while.

Kathmandu disposes of waste in a landfill in Sisdol located in Kakani Rural Municipality. The roads to the site have been heavily affected by the rain. With no other alternative to Sisdol, Kathmandu faces a similar problem every year.
