Khatiwada says budget implementation satisfactory amid Covid-19 crisis

Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada has commented that the government satisfactorily implemented the annual budget plan in the recently concluded fiscal year 2019/20 despite the Covid-19 crisis.

Speaking in a meeting of the Finance Committee in Parliament on Thursday, the first day of the new fiscal year, the minister claimed economic indicators, overall, were satisfactory by the end of the year. “In total, we spent the 71 per cent of the allocated budget,” he said, “Considering the situation, it is good.”

The minister claimed the government was successful in meeting all targets of the amended budget plan in the recently concluded fiscal year.

He informed lawmakers that the government spent Rs 1.094 trillion, and collected Rs 841 billion in revenues, around 75 per cent of the spending in the past year.
