Kathmandu, October 25

The Taleju temple of Kathmandu used to be open for the visitors every Mahanawami, the ninth day of the annual Dashain festival. However, the temple remained shut on Sunday although Hindus across the country marked the day indoors.

Local religious and administrative officials decided to shut the temple except for worshipped priests as opening it would attract crowds, thereby increasing the risk of coronavirus spread.

However, the Tulaja Bhawani Yatra, an annual procession to be taken out this day, will take place on the time fixed by astrologers.

Meanwhile, most of the Lord Durga temples in the capital are also shut this year.
