Kathmandu, June 16

Traffic police in Kathmandu have introduced the system of allocating a separate space for two wheelers during the time of traffic jam at crossroads.

To check the system’s effectiveness, police are creating a motorcycle box at Naya Baneshwar Chok, one of the busiest crossroads of the capital.

Once the system is implemented, motorcycles waiting for their turn to cross the road will get a separate space to wait and they do not need to overtake other four wheelers once the green light is on.

Police argue that when the bikes get their own space, they will cross the road quickly and it will make the movement of other vehicles smooth.

If the system is proved effective at Naya Baneshwar, it will be extended to other places as well, according to Metropolitan Traffic Police Office.
