Kathmandu police arrest seven for betting on ludo

Kathmandu, July 26

Police in Kathmandu have recently arrested seven persons on the charge of betting on a ludo game. Betting is illegal in Nepal as it is considered a form of gambling.

The police mobilised from the Metropolitan Police Circle in Kalimati, arrested seven in possession of Rs 87,050 cash they used to bet, according to DSP Rugam Kunwar. It has been learned that they used to bet up to Rs 35,000 on one match of ludo.

The arrestees have been remanded in custody as per the Gambling Act whereas further investigation is underway.

Ludo, a traditional board game, has revived its popularity these days, particularly on mobile phones.
