Kathmandu, May 7

An event to discuss concerns of the youth in Karnali–the Karnali policy dialogue and youth festival–has begun in Birendranagar of Surkhet, the provincial capital.

The provincial government’s Financial Affairs and Planning Minister Bedraj Singh inaugurated the two-day festival on Sunday.

Yuwalaya, a youth-led NGO that is organising the event, says young people from all 10 districts of the province are participating in the event.

During the event today, Karnali Provincial Planning Commission vice-chairperson Yogendra Bahadur Shahi asked the participants to give their feedback on National Youth Policy, 2025.

The event will discuss the role of youth in controlling child marriage, mainstreaming of marginalised groups in the province, Dalit rights, misinformation and hate speech, and safe foreign employment, informs Yuwalaya president Santosh Maharjan.

The National Youth Council, European Union, Oxfam in Nepal, Helvetas Nepal, Save the Children and Plan International Nepal are also involved in organising the event.
