The Karnali Provincial Assembly is preparing to double remunerations and other perks for elected people’s representatives of local units despite the growing Covid-19 crisis in the country.
A bill about the pays and perks of local level representatives–from mayors to ward members–is being amended soon, sources in the Provincial Assembly Secretariat say. The law will add the burden of more than Rs 30 million to the province’s monthly expenses.
