Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is falling in Dailekh, Surkhet, Salyan and Rukum West of Karnali Province. The Meteorological Forecasting Division has urged people in these districts to stay alert, citing the possibility of rain.
Most parts of Karnali Province have received rain in the past 24 hours. Rain with thunder and lightning is still falling in districts including Surkhet, Dolpa, Humla, Dailekh and Rukum West.
Rain and snowfall are also possible in the province’s other districts. The division said rain may also fall in some places this Saturday and Sunday.
Continuous rain carries the risk of landslides, road blockages and rising water levels in rivers and streams in the hilly and mountainous areas. This could affect transport services and daily life.
People living in settlements at risk of landslides have been urged to be especially careful. They have been advised not to go into rivers and streams during rain, to avoid unnecessary travel in risky areas, and to travel only after checking road conditions.
