Locals in Bhuda, Belauri municipality-10 of Kanchanpur, have claimed they chased away some Indian border security officials who allegedly entered the Nepali land, armed.

Six staff of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) entered Nepal in possession of some ropes and cameras besides the arms on Saturday. “We asked them who allowed them to enter Nepal. They said they had not asked anyone,” Ram Nath Chaudhary, a member of the ward committee, says, “Then, we chased them away. They ran away.”

He claims the security personnel used to enter Nepal and misbehave with the locals in the past also. “They come to our land and intimidate us. But, the government of Nepal is not concerned,” he laments, “This time, they came to Nepal for survey purposes unilaterally. But, they ran away as we counter-acted.”

Kanchanpur’s Chief District Officer Ram Kumar Mahato also says the Indian side did not consult concerned Nepali stakeholders while entering here. However, he says this is a minor incident.
