Two people died in a bus-motorbike collision at Durgapur, Kankai municipality-7, of the Jhapa district on Wednesday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Santosh Rai (33) of Rong rural municipality-6, Ilam and pillion rider Chandra Bahadur Rai, who appears to be in the late 30s, of the same place, informs DSP Basanta Pathak at the District Police Office.
He further informs the west-bound bus (Na 5 Kha 7936) and a motorbike (Me 7 Pa 2846) coming from the opposite direction had collided along the East-West Highway on Wednesday.
The duo sustained critical injuries in the accident and breathed their last while undergoing treatment at Birtamod-based B&C Hospital.
Both bodies have been kept at the hospital.
Police took control of the motorbike, bus and bus driver Saroj Dhakal, a local of Chulachuli rural municipality-2, Ilam, for further investigation.
