Ward chairs of the Janakpur sub-metropolitan city in Dhanusha have padlocked the city office, protesting Mayor Lal Kishor Sah’s apathy towards the waste management problem in the provincial capital.

They say they have been forced to padlock the office as the mayor did not make any effort to solve the problem despite frequent appeals for that.

Earlier, the protesting ward chairs had littered the road outside the mayor’s house.

“Bad smell is increasing across the city due to the waste compiled,” ward 7 chairman Janaki Ram Sah says, “We requested him to solve the problem, but he did not hear us. Hence, we have been forced to padlock his office and stage a sit-in.”

The ward chair says the protesting local leaders will decide on upcoming programmes for the protest this evening.
