Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya resigned on Monday.
Baniya announced his resignation while addressing the provincial assembly during a session convened to seek a vote of confidence.
Before announcing his resignation, Baniya presented a 28-point report outlining the major achievements of his government during his one-year tenure.
After the CPN-UML withdrew its support for the provincial government on July 22, Baniya was required under the Constitution to seek a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly within 30 days.
He was scheduled to seek the vote of confidence today.
