Bagmati CM Rajendra Pandey wins vote of confidence

Bagmati Chief Minister Rajendra Pandey has won the vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly meeting in Hetaunda on Monday.

Pandey, who was appointed the chief executive of the province with the support of 59 lawmakers on October 28, was required to obtain the vote in 30 days as per the constitution.

During the vote held today, Pandey received 59 votes in his favour from the 109-member assembly. Likewise, 43 votes were cast against him. Five lawmakers were absent and two chose to stay neutral.

Whereas the Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist Centre, CPN-Unified Socialist and Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal cast votes for him, the CPN-UML and Bibeksheel Sajha Party were against the new government. The Nepal Workers and Peasants Party stayed neutral.
