If proved guilty in Surendra Yadav ‘abduction’, will kill myself: Kisan Shrestha

Nepal Communist Party lawmaker Krishna Kumar Shrestha ‘Kisan’

Kathmandu, May 18

Ruling Nepal Communist Party lawmaker Krishna Kumar Shrestha ‘Kisan’, one of the accused of the alleged ‘abduction’ of People’s Socialist Party Nepal lawmaker Surendra Yadav, said he would kill himself in front of other lawmakers.

Shrestha’s statement comes one day after the Metropolitan Police Range in Kathmandu concluded that there was not sufficient evidence to file a case against Shrestha, another lawmaker Mahesh Basnet, and former Nepal Police chief Sarbendra Khanal as demanded by Yadav. The police office had submitted its probe report to the Kathmandu District Government Attorney Office on Sunday.

“My and honourable Mahesh Basnet’s character assassination has happened here,” he said, speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Monday, “But, I want to tell you all that, I want to challenge those who accused me of abduction that, if I was proved guilty, I will hang myself in front of you.”

Referring to the Socialist Party’s leader Baburam Bhattarai, he also asked, “Are the doctors who accused me ready for the same?”
