Kathmandu, November 30
Sakunta Lal Hirachan has been elected the treasurer of the umbrella organisation of Nepali private businesses, Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
In the election held among the newly elected executive committee members on Monday, Hirachan secured 40 votes to defeat the rival, DB Basnet. Basnet secured just 31 votes.
FNCCI member Arun Raj Sumargi says 71 votes were cast among 72 valid votes.
Hirachan was elected the member representing the Kishor Pradhan camp. Pradhan, however, has lost the election for the senior vice-president to Chandra Dhakal.
It has been learned that Hirachan will take the oath of office and secrecy and assume office today itself.
