Health and Population Minister Hridayesh Tripathi has assured that the process of purchasing Covid-19 vaccines would be transparent.

Speaking in a press meet at the ministry on Monday afternoon, the minister said the government had prioritised importing the vaccines in a government-to-government agreement model so that there would not be any irregularities.

Tripathi revealed he was in conversation with ambassadors of India, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates about purchasing the vaccines. “Efforts are underway to bring the vaccines as soon as possible as in other countries.”

Tripathi said the government would establish 16,000 vaccination centres and mobilise 5,000 staff in addition to 52,000 female community health volunteers for the Covid-19 vaccination drive.
