Kathmandu, September 16

Police in Lalitpur district have released controversial activist Gyanendra Shahi after he promised that he would not do any ‘indecent activity’.

The law enforcers had nabbed him from a press meet that he was hosting in Kupandole on Sunday, saying they ‘rescued’ him as the participants of the event tried to attack him. But after the arrest, police were reportedly preparing to file a case against him for his involvement in abusive behaviours with Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai at Nepalgunj airport on Saturday.

SP Durga Singh at Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, informs that police gave him a chance to correct himself after he promised not to repeat such acts.

On Saturday, Shahi had shared a video on his social media showing that he protested a flight delay at Nepalgunj airport caused due to Bhattarai. Following the incident, the minister had apologised, saying the flight was delayed by 15 minutes only.
