Kathmandu, September 15

Police in Lalitpur district say they have ‘rescued’ controversial activist Gyanendra Shahi from a press meet that he hosted on Sunday.

On Saturday, Shahi had shared a video on his social media showing that he protested a flight delay at Nepalgunj airport caused due to Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai. Following the incident, the minister had apologised, saying the flight was delayed by 15 minutes. But, claiming the minister lied to the public, Shahi had called journalists for a meeting this afternoon.

When Shahi began arguing with participants of the meeting, police rescued him considering his security threats, according to SSP Tek Prasad Rai, chief of the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur.
