Kathmandu, December 17
The chief of Guthi Sansthan, a government authority to look after the land and various properties owned by local community institutions, has been arrested on the charge of receiving a bribe from a service recipient.
A team deployed from Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority arrested Narayan Chaudhary from his office in Tripureshwar of Kathmandu on Tuesday. The anti-corruption constitutional body also arrested a deputy administrator, Jaya Regmi, on the same charge.
The commission says Chaudhary and Regmi had received the bribe with an assurance of settling a case related to a ‘guthi’ land plot in Naxal of Kathmandu. The commission was tipped-off about the kickback deal.
