Gulmi CDO Pradip Raj Kandel bags integrity idol award

Kathmandu, January 11

Pradip Raj Kandel, chief district officer of Gulmi, has received the ‘Integrity Idol Nepal’ honour for the year 2015. Based on online voting and SMSes, Accountability Lab, an organisation active in the fields of accountability, transparency and corruption control, conferred the honour on him, making him the ‘outstanding’ civil servant of the year.

Kandel got the honour leaving behind Ramesh Kumar Thapa, assistant management officer at the Bardiya National Park, Dipak Shrestha, head master of the Beni community higher secondary school (Myagdi), resource person Ram Narayan Shah and women development officer Bhuwan Kumari Rai.

After receiving the award, Kandel said the honour has inspired him to continue his engagement in public service.

A total of 558 applicants had applied for the honour. A jury comprising former science and technology minister Ganesh Sah and Transparency International (Nepal) Chair Bharat Bahadur Thapa had selected top five aspirants.
