The government of Nepal says adopting prevention measures against the Covid-19 pandemic are a must as hospital beds cannot be enough for all patients.

Issuing a public appeal, the Ministry of Health and Population says the level of infection has already gone beyond the capacity of the public health system.

In particular, 22 districts including Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Parsa, Bara, Dhanusha, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Makawanpur, Kavre, Kaski, Dang, Banke, Rupandehi, Palpa, Bardiya, Kapilvastu, Surkhet, Kailali, and Kanchanpur have recorded excessive increase in the number of cases, the ministry says.

Meanwhile, the ministry also appealed to the public and other stakeholders to stop all tourism activities.
