Government told to take cables in Kathmandu underground

Kathmandu, July 4

The Development Committee in Parliament on Tuesday directed the government to take cables of television operators and telephone service providers underground in Kathmandu Valley within next three months.

The Committee’s chair Rabindra Adhikari said after the meeting, “I have also directed the Department of Roads to upgrade the roads within next three months and the government to remove mismanaged cables.”

Meanwhile, the Committee also directed concerned authorities to expedite the Narayangadh-Muglin road expansion project. It suggested the road could be blocked every night for next two months for speedy works.

Currently, the road is being blocked for six hours a day as renovation works are going on.

The authorities hope that the road could be travelled through in just 35 minutes after completion of the project.
