Nepali Congress lawmaker Gagan Thapa has demanded that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resign claiming he has lost legitimate qualification and competence to govern.

Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, Thapa said the PM had lost the qualification and competence to lead the government after the audiotape supposedly involving former minister for communications and information technology Gokul Baskota leaked out.

“Right Honourable Prime Minister, please take time to recover your health for the health of your Nepal Communist Party, and the entire country,” he said, questioning, “Does the prime minister have any courage to answer our and the citizens’ questions, standing in Parliament, looking at our eyes?”

He demanded that Oli clarified the issue in the House at the earliest. The opposition leader claimed that the lawmakers of the ruling parties were also not happy about the prime minister’s recent activities though they could not speak about it openly. “Do you know if, dear prime minister?” he asked.
