Kathmandu, October 15

The Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal, which emerged as the fourth largest force in recent local level elections, is struggling hard to finalise the list of its proportional representation candidates as the party has to submit the closed list to the Election Commission today.

The party leadership is facing a hard time as most of Janajati leaders want to include their names in the PR closed list. The leaders are fearing to contest the first-past-the-post elections, according to a source.

Party’s Co-Chairman Rajendra Shrestha has rejected the leadership’s request to contest the FPTP polls from a constituency in Kathmandu. Likewise, party’s senior leader Ashok Rai has not felt easy over his name being recommended form Sunsari district for the FPTP polls.

Other leaders including Rakam Chemjong, Ranadhwaj Kangdangwa, Ang Kaji Sherpa and Hemraj Rai are also not willing to contest the FPTP polls.

Meanwhile, Madheshi leaders of the party including Chairman Upendra Yadav will contest the FPTP polls in Terai districts as the party fared better in Terai than in hills in recent local level elections, the source informs.
