Upendra Yadav’s post-split press conference: Even Prime Minister misled

Kathmandu, May 8

Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal President Upendra Yadav has claimed that his party has been split by misleading even the Prime Minister. He also claimed that the new party Janata Samajwadi Party formed under the leadership of Ashok Rai after breaking away from his party was illegal.

Yadav, who is also the deputy prime minister and health minister, was on a visit to the USA when the JSP broke up. A new party under the leadership of Ashok Rai has been registered with the Election Commission.

In a press conference held on Wednesday, JSP President Yadav said that the registration of a new party was unconstitutional. He also said that he would go to court against the registration of parties overnight when there was no law on political parties.

He claimed that the rumour that he was trying to form a new government with the Congress and the United Socialist Party was false.

Yadav said that since the formation of this government, he has not even met anyone from the Congress. There was no such need, no effort.

He said that he felt that the Prime Minister was made confused to split the party when he was out of the country. Yadav, who met the Prime Minister after his return from the USA, said, “It was understood that he was also misled by the illusion.”

He said that he will continue to support the government. “There is continuous support towards the government, which will remain,” he said, “The rest depends on how the situation develops.”
