Former King appeals for national unity, prosperity on his 70th birthday

Former King Gyanendra Shah says he wishes for protection of national unity and the nation’s journey towards prosperity.

On the occasion of his 70th birthday, the former monarch issued a statement and said he was committed to the nation including its people.

“May our country, made and protected by our ancestors, be protected forever and move towards prosperity,” he says, “This is my prime wish.”

He also wished that all Nepali people, people’s representatives in particular, have the same feeling.

The former King also appealed to Nepali people to explore knowledge of the eastern philosophies and science and utilise them to serve the nation.

Meanwhile, dozens of people loyal to monarchy reached Shah’s residence, Nirmal Niwas, in Maharajgunj today to extend their greetings to the former ruler.
