Kathmandu, August 1
The umbrella organisation of Nepali journalists, Federation of Nepali Journalists, has warned of launching a protest programme against media houses that fail to implement various provisions of the Working Journalists Act.
Reminding that all media houses should submit details about their staff and their payments to the government every year to let the journalists get press pass on time and to make sure that the law is implemented, the federation says many media houses have been found ignoring the requirement.
The FNJ says it will gradually make the list of such media houses public whereas the next meeting will announce the second phase of protest.
The federation hopes that its protest programmes will compel the media houses to provide sufficient facilities to their journalists as mentioned in the act.
Meanwhile, the federation has also appealed to the journalists to file complaints if they have anything against their employers, assuring their identity will be protected.
