Flood leaves 1 dead, 1 missing in Myagdi, 3 others missing in Parbat

One died and another went missing in a flood at Ratodhunga, Malika rural municipality-6, of the Myagdi district on Wednesday morning.

The swollen Myagdi rivulet flowing through Managala rural municipality-5 had taken away the house of Khagendra Roka. Malika-6 ward chairperson Santosh Subedi shares that the flood took away Khagendra’s son Bajin and daughter-in-law Bina when they were asleep inside the house. Bajin’s body was found while Bina went missing in the rivulet, ward chair Subedi further informs.

Police personnel from the Area Police Office Darwang, people’s representatives and locals have ramped up the search and rescue efforts.

Meanwhile, in the neighbouring Parbat district, three persons have gone missing when the Sundare rivulet of Kushma municipality-8 swept away a vehicle they were travelling on.

The vehicle belonging to the Lama Construction, a company contracted for the construction of the Parbat section of Mid-Hill Highway, was swept away while crossing the swollen rivulet last night.

Among the disappeared are site in-charge engineer of the construction, Rajaram Acharya, and vehicle driver Indra Tharu. Another missing has yet to be identified, shares Police Inspector Rajendra Adhikari.

Though the police had intensified the search since midnight yesterday, the status of the missing has yet to be identified, he further informs.
