Thirty huts have been reduced to rubble by a fire that broke out in Palata Rural Municipality-1, Khada village in Kalikot district on the early hours of Monday morning.
The fire, which started in the Neupane settlement, raged on for hours and consumed 30 houses.
As the roofs of all the huts were made with hay and straw, the fire consumed the huts in no time. However, the extent of the damage caused by the fire is yet to be assessed.
Police personnel from Area Police Office, Thirpu and Pachaljharana Rural Municipality are assessing the damages. According to Chief District Officer Chandra Bahadur Karki, it will take some time to ascertain the extent of the losses in the incident since it took four hours for police just to reach the area.
