Fans may have lost Yama Budhha, I’ve lost my husband Anil Adhikari: Ashmita

Ashmita Sedhai mourns for her husband Anil, at their home in Kathmandu.

Kathmandu, February 5

The widow of rapper Anil Adhikari (aka Yama Buddha) says she is distressed by media reports surrounding the death of her husband, nearly two weeks after his passing

Yama Buddha, one of the most famous Nepali rappers, was found dead in the bathroom of his home in London, where he lived with his wife and her parents, on January 14. As news spread about his death, there were speculations in the media over the cause of his death, and the state of the relationship between Yama Budhha and his wife Ashmita Sedhain.

The mortal remains of the singing sensation were brought to Kathmandu last week, and cremated at Pashupati Aryagaht. Before the cremation, his body was kept at the Nepal Academy for well-wishers and fans to pay tribute to the singer.

“Our buhari (daughter-in-law) flew to Kathmandu a day before his (Yama Buddha’s) body arrived.”

“Some reports said that Ashmita is no longer in contact with the Adhikari family,” Yama Buddha’s uncle Krishna, who is performing mourning rituals on behalf of the family told Onlinekhabar. “Our buhari (daughter-in-law) flew to Kathmandu a day before his (Yama Buddha’s) body arrived,” he added. Yama Buddha’s father Ambika Prasad also said he was saddened by reports about his daughter-in-law.

Ashmita Sedhai, who is with the Adhikari family as they mourn for Anil, says at times she feel ‘tortured’.

“Fans may have lost Yama Buddha, but I have lost my husband Anil. The pain is unbearable.”

The Adhikari family has urged fans and well-wishers to exercise restraint and the media to talk to the family before reporting about the case.
