Kathmandu, March 29
A 23-year-old woman, who was in Kathmandu during the course of medical treatment of her mother, has been raped by a youth, who claimed himself as a doctor of Bansbari-based Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre.
Police say 27-year-old Arjun Koirala from Tansen-11 of Palpa, currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26, raped the woman.
He had presented himself as Dr Santosh Ghale and assured that he would support the victim’s mother’s treatment.
According to a complaint registered by the victim, he had taken her to a guesthouse in Mitra Nagar, Gongabu, to commit the crime.
An investigation launched by the Metropolitan Police Circle in Maharajgunj has found that Koirala was a Nepali Army soldier, but was fired on a rape charge.
The suspect has already confessed to his crime, according to police.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu District Court remanded him to custody for five days for further investigation.
