Kathmandu, December 31

CPN-UML leader and former speaker Subas Chandra Nembang says the Election Commission’s role in delaying announcement of final results of House of Representatives polls is suspicious.

Nembang says staff of the Commission had submitted results of proportional representation polls and details of seats each party would get six days ago, but the commissioners did not make them public.

While the Commission has been insisting that PR poll results would be announced only after the elections of National Assembly, the UML has been demanding that the results should be announced immediately.

“People have begun questioning why the Commission is handling the issue this way. All final results of House of Representatives should be announced immediately and the road to new government must be cleared.”

Meanwhile, Nembang says Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is trying to prolong his stay in the power for next couple of months.

“I am not blaming them, but they are trying to prolong the stay with various pretexts and excuses.”
