The government has appointed former health secretary Dr Senendra Raj Upreti as the chairperson of the Health Insurance Board.
The cabinet meeting held on Monday evening made the appointment endorsing the recommendation of Health Minister Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal.
Earlier last week, the cabinet had endorsed the resignation tendered by Dr Uma Shankar Prasad for the position.
Dr Upreti will lead the board for the next four years.
