Medical education reform activist Dr Govinda KC has started a new round of fast-unto-death, forwarding six demands to the government, on Monday.

Dr KC tells Onlinekhabar that he is on the hunger strike from 2 pm today in Jumla of Karnali.

He has demanded that the government start the MBBS programme at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, expand the range of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests for coronavirus across the country, and end lockdowns and prohibitory orders after making the use of mask and physical distancing compulsory for all.

Likewise, he has also demanded investigations into various corruption cases of the country including those of the health sector and take action against them.

The activist claims officials of the anti-corruption constitutional body, Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, are also involved in irregularities and they have been sparing various leaders and officials from the action, demanding the Federal Parliament impeach them.

Stating that state officials and others close to them are indulged in corruption when the citizens are dying of hunger at the time of the pandemic, he says, “Therefore, we do not have any alternative to the struggle even at this critical time.”
