Kathmandu, August 28
Dr Govinda KC has announced that he will begin a hunger strike on Sunday, September 1 (Bhadra 15).
KC, who has long been leading hunger strikes and pressure campaigns demanding reforms in medical education, said he is resuming his protest after the government recently decided to increase seats in private medical colleges.
He has been demanding that the decision be revoked, arguing that seats should be expanded in government colleges instead. The government’s move has drawn criticism for favoring private institutions over public ones.
